As of Wednesday Microsoft will be shipping Windows XP SP2 from their update site - you may even get it downloaded without having to do anything if you've set up your system to do so (a mistake in my opinion).|
Here is the article on the BBC's site about it
... and here is the Microsoft knowledge base article including all the programs which will stop working when you install SP2.
Also see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=884130 (thanks Tom).
Ahh yes, your a Mac user ... my sister has had to change printer and now some spreadsheets print all scrunched up. Any ideas?
[Yes, I know it's an impossible question to answer, but any ideas appreciated before I try and do some remote debugging on a system I know nothing about :)]
You had exactly as much info as I had :) I did say it was impossible didn't I? I'll ring her in a while and see what state it's in.
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll see if they make any sense to her :)
Mac OS 9
Printer now HP Deskjet 3650 (was Epsom something??)
Microsoft Excell 9no idea version)
She went through some install drivers stuff off a CD that came with the printer but "the printer icon isn't in the thinggie in the top right hand corner where the old printer was" [my sister is a bright cookie (or she wouldn't be in the job she is) but she's not the most computer literate person in the world :) ]
problem was that a spreadsheet printed out all scrunched up when she tried to print out just the first page ... and no I don't know what other testing / options have been tried. She's not going to be using it again today, but if you have any ideas (or questions to ask her) then I'm open to suggestions :)
I blindly copied the text from that post into an e-mail to my sister. Just got this from her:-
Am printing like a mad thing. Say huge thank-you to Gary for me.
So ... erm ... THANK YOU
Seems like you fixed it for her :)
Thanks from me too.
Do you do Mac support? Can I point her to you for any future questions?
OK, ta. I'll pass that on to her.
The computer is just a tool for her - she is actually running music courses at something or the other attached to Kingston
PolyUniversity so she is more into the music side of things.
