My day

Happy New Year ... Chinese that is. Does anyone know what animal it is this next year? Ahh ... Monkey ... the radio just told me. I'm just so in touch :)

I was working in London today. As usual what the client wanted me to do bore little or nothing to what I'd been told they wanted. I thought I was going down to estimate the work required for a new project. They want me to complete 4 completely different changes / bug fixes. *shrugs* As long as they are happy and pay the bill then we'll just do what they want.

I managed to fix the first problem very quickly much to my (and the client's) surprise. The second problem had three parts, which then bacame four. I've got two sorted, one works and the end user is happy although I still have some doubts myself and the final one has me debugging code and running a SQL trace to try and find out where it is doing a particular thing. I only need to make a small change, and I know what the change has to be it's just finding where to put it.

The best bit of the day was lunch. This client has a good restaurant and today the roast was beef ... yummy. They had a "stealth" horesradish sauce. The first two portions tasted sweet and creamy but the third and fourth struck back and cleared out all my sinuses with a wire brush. So if you saw me sitting crying at lunch time it was 'cos I was enjoying myself. :)

The tube back was crowded ... but did give rise to a haiku

She looks so hungry,
Wants him to be her boyfriend.
He doesn't notice.

People watching is fun :)

Tonight I've had Haddock in Cheese and Chives sauce with baked potatoes and carrots - yummy and healthy.

Off to bed soon, early for a change. Leave the dishes to wash themselves ... whir whir.

[Don't worry, this won't turn into a detailed description of the minutea of my life ... that would be too boring for all of us :) ]

Peace
peter
