Quotes of the Day

Good morning.

No quotes for a while, so I thought you'd all like some today. The first two caught my eye and persuaded me to copy them :)

It pays to be obvious, especially if you have a reputation for subtlety.
Isaac Asimov (1920 - 1992)

Someday we'll look back on this moment and plow into a parked car.
Evan Davis

I can forgive Alfred Nobel for having invented dynamite, but only a fiend in human form could have invented the Nobel Prize.
George Bernard Shaw (1856 - 1950)

Getting ahead in a difficult profession requires avid faith in yourself. That is why some people with mediocre talent, but with great inner drive, go much further than people with vastly superior talent.
Sophia Loren (1934 - )
Who me?

Peter sees the new Harry Potter book on his way into Asda and walks past the display! However after buying a cooked chicken, some milk and some baking potatoes the siren call of the massed books is too much to bear and he puts a copy of the book in his basket.

Later that evening Peter does not read the book.

In the evening Peter does a few things on his laptop then sees the HP book and has a quick look. Several hours later he stops reading at page 222.

Peter starts reading earlier this evening and gets through to page 474.

Thursday morning

After his morning shower Peter stops to read a few more pages of the book - 45 minutes later he is late for work. He leaves the book and, since he is away to Southampton in the evening, he will not read any more of it 'till Friday evening.

Peter thinks he may have suffered from a third-person curse, but he doesn't know how he can tell for sure.

He says "Peace", then signs off.
