In the days that follow look at our airports, look at our sea ports and look at our railway stations and, even after your cowardly attack, you will see that people from the rest of Britain, people from around the world will arrive in London to become Londoners and to fulfil their dreams and achieve their potential.
Ken Livingston, 7th July 2005

I am a Londoner

I am proud to be a Londoner and to see everone carrying on. Terrorism will not defeat us!

These are a couple of pics I took a while back - London through and through (click for bigger pics)

When the bombs went off in the tubes everyone just went out and huffed because it was inconvenient. Within minutes people were making jokes about, "I knew the French were bad losers, but.."

See http://www.livejournal.com/users/tyrell/154027.html for a collection of quotes that typify the British reaction to 7/7

Hey and notice how our terrorist attack is on a date that won't confuse our American cousins. Perhaps we could get the terrorists to always do that?

I think "Fancy a pint?" is the quintessential British reaction to ~anything~ actually...

"I had a crap day at work"
"Fancy a pint?"

"I had a great day at work"
"Fancy a pint?"

"My girlfriend dumped me"
"Fancy a pint?"

"I won the lottery"
"Fancy a pint? (Drinks are on you)"

"My leg fell off"
"Fancy a pint?"

Pints are big and solid and comforting and take a time to drink during which you can calm down and reflect.
