Something for the Weekend? [May. 6th, 2004|01:15 pm]
Peter Sheil
this weekend my Morris side, Red Stags, and a couple of others are dancing in the Southampton / New Forest area. The latest copy of the program is as follows (but note that it may have had changes I'll only hear about tonight at practice) :-

Saturday will be a Tour of the New forest on a vintage bus
Spots will be;
- Furzey Gardens, Minstead (Opens at 10am)
- The Trusty Serpent, Minstead (11:30)
- Bucklers Hard (13:00)
- Either The Anchor or King Rufus in Ealing (16:00)
- An evening session in The Junction Inn, Southampton (probably just singing and not dancing)

Sunday
- Bursledon Brickworks (Opens at 11am)
- Bursledon Windmill (13:00 - Closes at 4pm)

The Brickworks is always fun for me 'cos the combination of brick dust and smoke from the traction engines does wonders for my contact lenses :)

I'll update this post with any more info as I get it.

Note: All timings are in MST (Morris Standard Time) and the exact relationship between this and BST is yet to be discovered.

[Of course if you'd prefer not to see Morris Dancers doing their thing then you have been warned of places to avoid.]

Peace

Frustrated [May. 6th, 2004|01:28 pm]
Peter Sheil
I have a personal post I want to do but cannot get my head around it whilst I'm at work :( I'll try and do it on Friday whilst I'm waiting for someone to inspect my car and someone else to fit a water meter [and doing my washing and other houshold chores]

I hope you are all having productive days - mine isn't at the moment but I'm sure it will get better.

Peace

UK ID card [May. 6th, 2004|06:16 pm]
Peter Sheil
[This is primarily for UK readers, but others may find it fascinating to read one article about the "benefits" of our proposed ID cards.]

Know anything about the UK ID cards? Personally I don't, and I work in the IT industry with government departments as some of our clients.

If you want to get your head around it a bit then I suggest you go to The Register and look at Everything you never wanted to know about the UK ID card. It is a several page article and quite haevy going (at least I found it so) but on the last page there are links for making your opinion known to the government through the consultation process.

So what do you think: Are the cards a good idea? Will they work? Will Britain turn into a Russian style police state? Discuss.

I know everyone is doing it now but I've done mine anyway. Not sure what it says about me ... to wordy perhaps :)

My MindMap [May. 6th, 2004|11:01 pm]
Peter Sheil
I forgot I'd done this, it was so long ago ... but then I went for the cheap black and white one rather than the swish colour one all the rest of you seemed to go for. I'm still not sure what this proves but it looks interesting :)

Peace
peter
