Quotes of The Day [Aug. 31st, 2003|10:11 pm]
Peter Sheil
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
Dandemis

I can't understand it. I can't even understand the people who can understand it.
Queen Juliana (1909 - ), of the Netherlands

Half of the modern drugs could well be thrown out of the window, except that the birds might eat them.
Dr. Martin Henry Fischer

Eccentricity is not, as dull people would have us believe, a form of madness. It is often a kind of innocent pride, and the man of genius and the aristocrat are frequently regarded as eccentrics because genius and aristocrat are entirely unafraid of and uninfluenced by the opinions and vagaries of the crowd.
Edith Sitwell (1887 - 1964)

The weekend [Aug. 31st, 2003|10:33 pm]
Peter Sheil
Friday evening
Went for a run - see runningdiary for details.

Saturday Faversham Hop Festival
Drove there from Southampton, stopped for breakfast at motorway services. Went and danced at one spot then walked for ages to find the pub where we could cash in our free drink tokens ... but it was worth the trip 'cos both the beer and the food was good. Got back late for our next dance spot, but it seemed that there were enough sides there anyway so we weren't missed. We then went on to dance at two other spots - one of which was far too crowded for us which caused some stress in the side. After the dancing we went back to the camp site to change and freshen up.

Next we went off to "The Shipwrights Arms" which is a 17th Century creekside pub often deservedly called "the loneliest pub in the world". Matt and Giz had found it in a Good Pub guide and it didn't disappoint! We should have booked to eat there they managed to fit us in provided we only had a main course and were clear of the tables by 8 PM - which I managed by minor bullying of the others :) After dropping the others in town for the dance I drove back to north London and started feeling v tired so crashed out almost immediately I got home.

Sunday
Woke up with a sore throat and a grumpy feeling. Fell asleep in the bath, so ended up round at my Mum's later than I'd said :( Went shopping with her ... no wait I had a coffee first, she almost insisted so I must have looked bad :) So, shopping then back home to eat [salmon with watercress sauce, spinach and mash with onions and cabage for me - yummy]. Did some stuff around the house - got a tape player to work for Mum (cleaning tape worked first time). Then headed back here to update the LJ entries and wait for my sister to get back on a delayed plane from Greece. She's just phoned so I'm off to pick her up from the tube station in a few minutes.

Plans for next week
Monday, maybe Tuesday and maybe Wednesday working in Victoria, London.
The rest of the week working at Cardiff.
Morris dancing at a pub in Southampton on Thursday night.
Going for a run in Southampton on Friday night.

No idea about next weekend - maybe a Morris free one? Don't know - I'll have to find my palm pilot to check.

Peace to you all
peter
