Life 2 (based on icon from tamnonlinear)

(no subject)

Friday continued

Got seated by the window and ... erm ... flew over to Atlanta. The plane had small TV screens in the seat back in front of us as well as big screens at the front of each section. There was some problem with the movies, but I was reading the latest Harry Potter book so I wasn't interested in them. I kept getting two drinks each time we were offered anything to drink - mostly water but orange juice as well - so I didn't end up too dehydrated.

I was a bit confused when the stewardess offered a meal of chickenorpasta ... but eventually I worked out I was being offered a choice of chicken or pasta and had the meal which was quite OK by airline standards.

We had a few areas of turbulence during the flight and I got a few pictures of a big cumulus cloud somewhere a bit south west of Washington but not of the biggest one we flew around a bit before that.

The Atlanta Immigration Service guys seemed OK. There was the usual long wait before us aliens could enter but at least the guy on the desk was friendly. After that I went into the baggage reclaim area where they have acres of carousels - only two of them seemed to be in use. Then came the worst bit of Atlanta airport - getting the baggege checked in for the transfer flight and getting through security again. The rest of the airport had cooling but this area didn't seem to have any! Also the area for getting the bags onto the conveyor belts to get them to the next flight (or even to Atlanta airport itself - all baggage had to go this way) was cramped. I guess the extra security put in to prevent terrorists getting through has taken space away from this area.

After eventually getting through the security screen and proving that my PC was indeed a PC and not a bomb I then go the shuttle train to the next terminal, one stop down the line. After getting off this it seemed like I had to walk back about half the distance the train had taken me before I could get up to the terminal again. Here I found the gate I needed and settled down for a two hour wait - fortunately there was a Cinnabon outlet just next to the waiting area so I had something to keep me going 'till the next airline meal :)

The next flight was on a much smaller plane - it had propellers! I don't remember much about this flight, after about 10 minutes I fell asleep and didn't wake up 'till we were landing at Columbus.

Then Kat met me, I found my suitcas (minus it's luggage strap) and drove to her home.

Right, we're off somewhere soon. Gotta go
