Random thoughts [Nov. 14th, 2001|08:30 am]

It was a dull morning when I got up, so I decided to be BRIGHT at work :) I'm wearing a dark blue shirt with a BRIGHT yellow/orange/red tie with smiling suns on it. It had the right effect as the sun came out on he drive into work. There were some clouds in the east and the sun came up behind them witha warm red glow - a good way to start the day.

Shame the last 2 miles of the motorway was solid - I don't know why the M3 is so bad at the moment. I'm glad I get off it at junction 4. It is about an hour's drive to get in if I leave home before 7 AM but maybe twice that if I leave later. Tomorrow I have a meeting at Stevenage at 9 AM so I have to get round the M25 as well. That means starting about 5 AM to do a 2 hour journey - if I left at 7 AM the journey could easily take 3 to 4 hours.

So, onward with the day and problem solving, report writing, updating CV etc
All the excitement of the IT industry :)

I did the Geek Test too [Nov. 14th, 2001|09:04 am]

I AM 34% GEEK.

I probably work in computers, or a history deptartment at a college. I never really fit in with the "normal" crowd. But I have friends, and this is a good thing.

Take the GEEK Test at Fuali.com!

Any comments on that from anyone who knows me?

TrafficMaster [Nov. 14th, 2001|04:10 pm]

Here is a link to a site which shows traffic delays on motorways and some main roads in the UK

View the traffic

In the mornings I go from the SW end of the M3 to junction 4, and back in the evenings, so now you can tell how bad the journey was :)

On Thursday I'm going from SW end of M3 all the way to M25, then clockwise around to the A1M and finally north to Stevenage. Fun :)

I've actualy got the system in the car - it speaks when there is a traffic delay, usually something like "You are on M3 east bound near junction 4a. Severe delays between junctions 5 and 2. Expect 35 minutes delay". It seems to manage this just /after/ a suitable turn off point as I reach the stationary traffic. :)
