Can anyone explain number 4 to me? I'm just confused by it.

Early to rise and early to bed makes a male healthy and wealthy and dead.
James Thurber (1894 - 1961)

There is never enough time, unless you're serving it.
Malcolm Forbes

Americans will put up with anything provided it doesn't block traffic.

There are more fools in the world than there are people.

Oh yes the number 4, well that's easy enough. It is the number that comes after three and before 5. Interestingly enough the actual composition of 4 is only 3 lines that connect to make the symbol that we recognize as 4. Any questions? For further information or enlightenment please feel free to contact me, Queen/Goddess Roxanne! LMAO

Re:

Hmmmm...

interestingly the original drawing of the numbers had the number of angles correcponding to the number itself ... so a "1" had one angle, "2" had two and so on. I'm not sure how 4 was originally drawn - sounds like a project to waste an hur or two on the net :)

Yes.

You can look at http://www-groups.dcs.st-and.ac.uk/~history/HistTopics/Arabic_numerals.html to see what the numbers used to look like. Aren't you impressed by my web research? :)

Did you notice...

Did you notice that the numerals from al-Sizji's, the numerals from al-Biruni's and al-Banna al-Marrakushi's form of the numerals are still only 3 movements or shapes (including lines)? Just thought that I would point that out. *evil grin*

Oh, and yes darling I am impressed with your web research (among other things *wink wink*)!

Love you,

Re: Did you notice...

Yes, I did see that the numbers didn't actually prove my point - I just hoped you'd be impressed and ignore that minor detail :) Ah well

Oh my sweet, you are mistaken...I am very impressed with you. ;) As for that minor detail, one must gloat when she is right because it only happens so often! LOL

Fools are we all....

Fools are more common in groups of three or more; and sometimes the fools have multiple personalities. :D

Re: Fools are we all....

Ahhh that explains my question, thank you Amber.

Interesting as the discussion of the number 4 was it wasn't where I was aiming to go :)
