My Dream [Nov. 22nd, 2001|07:09 pm]
Peter Sheil
I had a dream last night - I don't often remember them.

I was being chased by a thing a bit like a snake, but with an unbending straight neck. I ran uphill, then doubled back just before it caught me. It couldn't turn as quickly so I started getting away. As I ran down hill I saw a smaller one in a nest, but I left it alone. To escape I carried on running down hill to a cliff and leapt of and seemed to fly / glide down using my arms as wings.

I remember thinking that it was a Wryvern that was chasing me. I don't remember hearing that word before, but my mum's dictionary says that it is a type of dragon!

What does it mean?
Where did I hear the word "wryvern"?
My pre-sleep reading was a Linux mag with articles about encryption, so no clues there apart from my geekness.

Happy Thanksgiving Day to everyone

Sounds to me like you may have been in another plane in your dream state...
When you were having the dream did it seem 'real' unlike your other dreams.. if so thats probably what happened. It happens to me all the time..
If you can learn to control your dreams you'll be able to visit other planes in your dream state and get lots of usfull info and help to guide you in life :) Maybe even some psychic gifts :)

Re:

Well since I don't usually remember my dreams it is hard to say, but it certainly seemed real. The landscape seemed familiar - there was a road / track that bent around under a bridge and that was where you had to go to put boats into the canal. (I don't know what canal, and I didn't see it in the dream)

Also I think I misspelt the beast's name - it was a Wyrven - or something like that - it is getting confused now :(

A wyvern is a type of dragon, usually found in the British Isles. I can't remember where I first came across the term, but I know Tolkien has used it in some of his writings. Perhaps that's where you came across it.

Re:

OK, but why was it chasing me? Why did I feel it was important I had left the young one alone when I had an opportunity to kill it?

The whole landscape was "familiar" - I knew where a road under a bridge went - although I have no idea where the whole scene was :)

That was an interesting post for you to follow up. I almost never remember my dreams, and those I do are never interesting.

Do you have a picture of one on - line anywhere? Just to see if it looks the same.

Thanks for the post
