Brain Teasers [Mar. 19th, 2002|09:17 am]
Peter Sheil
How about a few Brain Teasers:

1. A murderer is condemned to death. He has to choose between
three rooms. The first is full of raging fires, the second is
full of assassins with loaded guns, and the third is full of
lions that haven't eaten in 3 years. Which room is safest for
him?

2. A woman shoots her husband. Then she holds him under water
for over 5 minutes. Finally, she hangs him. But 5 minutes later
they both go out together and enjoy a wonderful dinner together.
How can this be?

3. There are two plastic jugs filled with water. How could you
put all of this water into a barrel, without using the jugs or
any dividers, and still tell which water came from which jug?

4. What is black when you buy it, red when you use it, and gray
when you throw it away?

5. Can you name three consecutive days without using the words
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or
Sunday?

6. This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious how quickly you
can find out what is so unusual about it. It looks so plain you
would think nothing was wrong with it. In fact, nothing is wrong
with it! It is unusual though. Study it, and think about it,
but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it
a bit, you might find out.

OK - I'll post the answers later today, promise. Some are old favourites but some are new to me. Enjoy (or shuld that be "get frustrated"?)

Those are too easy.

Well okay so I searched the web for some answers. Those answers were too easy to find!

:-D

Truth: I knew two of 'em and for a third, I knew I should know the answer but couldn't pull it out of my brain!

Re:

Yes, they are a bit like that. Which ones did you know straight away? I only knew number 6 immediately.

1 and 5 ... 6 was the one I knew I should know! Saw it before but it was long enough ago that I just couldn't remember. And since I'd only been awake about 1/2 hour, I didn't even try to figure it out!

Hehe

1, 2, and 5 are easy. No thought required. 3 and 6 I've heard before and therefore should know the answers, but I can't think of them. 4 I have no idea.

Re:

Hmm ... I thought 6 was the easiest myself. I agree 4 is hard but then I've only ever used it over in the US, not that we don't have it in the UK just I've never used it.

Can't argue with 1 and 5 but 2? I had an answer figured out but it was a little uhm ... convoluted. Hah!

Didn't say where she shot him! And what if he was wearing scuba gear? Hung him? Perhaps by his wrists?

LOL!

Re:

You're thinking along the wrong lines. I'll give you a hint: She didn't shoot him with a gun.
