Today [Apr. 13th, 2003|10:21 pm]
Peter Sheil
Completed the Marathon :))) It's a good feeling even if I ache all over.

Took something like 6 hours 46 minutes -
don't know the exact time as I was sprinting at the finish.
*silly me - I blame the dextrose tablets they were handing out at the "800 yards to go" line*

Minor blisters and absolutely exhausted.

Took 10 minutes to to reach the starting line after the race had started.
Started off running about 12 minute miles but slowed down to 15 minutes per mile.

Minor sun burn - forgot the sun cream :(

I'm off to:-
Empty the washing machine to see if the blood came out of my socks
Have a bath
Drink some more water
get into bed

I'm on leave on Monday so I'll post some more during the day

Peace
peter

Congratulations! I would never be able to run a marathon. Just completing it is a feat most people could never accomplish.

Re:

Thank you :)

I'm still sore and aching but not too bad overall.

Actually a lot of people, with the right training, could do it. My problem this year was almost no training. it was only the level of fitness I get from Morris dancing that got me through it.

Peace
peter
