Today's mystery phrase ... and other stuff [Apr. 8th, 2003|11:40 am]
Peter Sheil
dim ysmagu

I'll give you a clue ... it's not a chineese dish, even though it sounds like it should be ... although truth to tell I've never heard it, only seen it on signs.

What's your guess??

After my run on Sunday my legs are still aching. I didn't run last night, but did have a short walk. I'll try for another run tonight and see how that goes then rest 'till Sunday.

Anyone out there like to Sponsor me for the run? It's in aid of Macmillan cancer relief, rather than beer tokens for me :). You could either post me a cheque or I guess I could accept PayPal payments if I get myself together [is here any chance of that happening?] Let me know if yu'd like to and I'll sort out the details off-line by e-mail.

Right better get on - today I either have a network connection or power ... no don't ask :( ... so better clear my work e-mails then go back to the power socket.

Peace
peter

I knew "dim" was "no" (or something equivalent), but I had to look "ysmygi" up in the dictionary (the word hadn't entered my vocabulary until today *grin*).

This is fun! ;-D

Re:

Was that my typo? Oh sorry.

Yes that was the intended meaning.
Welsh is such a lyrical - although since the word endings get changed 'cos of the following word it can be a tad confusing for us mere English :)

I don't actually speak Welsh - I was just posting so Sparky (mysticprincess) could practice. I'm going to do random road signs as well ... that should be more of a challenge :)

Peace

I remember that aquaduct!

We were going up stream (yes it does flow on that bit), I was at the front, Kim was below cooking and unbeknown to us the two people steering were frozen with fear by the height. The throttle was quite a way forward 'cos of the flow but at the far end there is a hard 90 degree left turn.

To cut a long story short the front of the boat rode up the concrete bridge support by a couple of feet and over half of our food had to be thrown away 'cos of broken crockery and glass in it. Definitely an experience not to be repeated.

That trip we also rescued a lamb from the canal which is a whole story in itself as it didn't want to be rescued :) Personally I was just going to shout "mint sauce" at it and expet it to swim away but that didn't seem to work in practice.

Hope you have fun on the trip - when are you going?

Re: I'm an old hand, but...

I'm missing out this year. The Morris side has a regular week at Easter with two (or more) boats but I don't want to be on it this year ... well to be more accurate I do want to go but not with one of the people who will be there. Actually it is even more complicated :) but I won't go in to it in a public post.

Hope you have fun - oating can be a very pleasant experience but it does depend very much on the company :)

Peace
peter

Re: I'm an old hand, but...

It's unlikely you'll see me at a London LJ meetup as I'm working in Cardiff mostly now :(
