Eleanor Rigby [Sep. 26th, 2002|01:06 pm]
Peter Sheil
I don't think I've posted his here - I came accross this while looking for something else. Made me smile and feel sad at the same time. No idea who wrote it.

Eleanor Rigby
Sits at the keyboard
And waits for a line on the screen
Lives in a dream
Waits for a signal
Finding some code
That will make the machine do some more.
What is it for?
All the lonely users, where do they all come from?
All the lonely users, why does it take so long?
Guru MacKenzie Typing the lines of a program that no one will run;
Isn't it fun?
Look at him working,
Munching some chips as he waits for the code to compile;
It takes a while...
All the lonely users, where do they all come from?
All the lonely users, why does it take so long?
Eleanor Rigby
Crashes the system and loses 6 hours of work;
Feels like a jerk.
Guru MacKenzie
Wiping the crumbs off the keys as he types in the code;
Nothing will load.
All the lonely users, where do they all come from?
All the lonely users, why does it take so long?

"Eleanor Rigby/Sits at the keyboard/And waits for a line on the screen"

When the hell did you put a cam in here??? Where is it - where?? I almost choked, that's exactly my Friday night fun... Staring at a screen waiting for an e-mail from a client who's "running a little late" (...th bstrd...).

Spooooooooky!

I just subscribe to several "humourous" news letters. One of them is 95% crude and I wouldn't post most of their stuff but they do have some gems. One is "Bizaire News" which again is crude at times and the last is "CleanLaughs" which are mostly quite good.

Eleanor was actually sitting on my disk - I forget where she came from so cannot even credit the author (which I'd love to do). the song captures the mood of the original so well - I felt a smile and a tear at the pathos of it at the same time.

Glad you enjoyed it - bringing happiness to others is always a good thing and makes me feel that there is a point to life.

Peace
peter
